Blind Can Carry Guns In Public In Iowa

Sky News - Iowa is granting blind people permits allowing them to buy guns or carry firearms in public, according to reports.
The permits are legal as Iowa law does not deny anyone the right to carry a weapon based on physical disability.

According to the Des Moines Register, visually-impaired residents of the state are already allowed to own guns and even hunt.

But the difference is that they can now carry firearms in public, following changes to the law in 2011.
The move has sparked public safety concerns.

Sergeant Jana Abens, a spokeswoman for the Polk County sheriff’s office, told the newspaper: "It seems a little strange, but the way the law reads, we can’t deny them (a permit) just based on that one thing."   More
